101 Old Bedford Road Mystery
The house was located at 101 Old Bedford Road, was also known as the "Haunted House near White's". The house was constructed in 1969 by Marie and Armand Brodeur, who had owned the property since 1943. The couple built the house after the original home on the property was torn down by the state in 1968 to make
way for I-195. The Brodeurs never experienced any strange phenomena while living in the home.
Though those who know the property best steadfastly maintain that nothing supernatural has ever occurred at the home.
In 1979 the house was sold to a New Bedford school teacher. In 1985 the teacher moved out of the house and it was left abandoned. In 1985 Sumner James Waring Jr. purchased it. Waring was the owner of Waring Funeral Homes, based in Fall River. Waring contemplated building an administrative office for his funeral home business at the site. Eventually he chose to build the office at another location, and the house was just left vacant. The house was later demolished and a commercial building was constructed on the site. As for one of the stories the house was built on top of a burial ground, that was determined not true.
