Lynn Cummings Undetermined 1994
On January 27 1994 the body of Lynn Cummings (27) was discovered in the yard of 20 Braley Rd. She was discovered lying face down in the snow. The case was deemed "Suspicious, but not homicide". Cummings was last seen the night before between the hours of 7-9pm drinking and engaging in drug activity in New Bedford. Cummings had a lengthy criminal record involving drugs and prostitution, just a few months prior she was released from incarceration.
The autopsy results confirmed not homicide or suicide, however it documents "Amitriptyline intoxication and hypothermia" as the cause of death. Amitriptyline is an anti-depressant, and hypothermia caused by the cold weather.
Why was she in Freetown? How did she travel there? Why was she near this location on foot? Those questions remain a mystery.

Skeletal Remains Unsolved Murder 1983 On November 6, 1983, a man traveling north on Route 24 stopped at a rest area that bordered the Assonet River in Freetown. At that location, the man encountered a family who had stopped in this area to pick wild mushrooms. They alerted the man that while they were picking mushrooms, they had discovered a deceased infant (boy) at that location. The man immediately left the area and drove to the Freetown Police station where he reported this discovery.
The Freetown Police responded and discovered the body of a Caucasian unclothed newborn. The investigation revealed that the infant had been abandoned in the woods along the highway and had died several hours prior to the discovery of his body. The autopsy report revealed the cause of death to be as a result of exposure to the elements after having been left unclothed in the cold for a number of hours preceding his death. The infant was later buried at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. The rest area where the incident took place no longer exists.
In 2020, a DNA sample was recovered and a DNA profile now exists.
