James Geanecopouloas 1943 Solved
On April 15, 1943, James Geanecopoulaos (48) was beaten to death and robbed inside his Padelford Street farm. Prior to his death, Geanecopouloas had sold a large number of chickens and received $1400 which he was going to use to take a vacation to Greece.
A neighbor George Curtiss (69) was investigated and determined to have been involved in the crime. On the day of the crime, Curtiss came to the Geanecopouloas Farm to borrow a tool, and a physical altercation occurred. Curtiss was well known to Geanecopouloas and was a frequent visitor to the farm.
Curtiss was arrested and charged. At trial Curtiss was declared innocent by reason of insanity and was sentenced to Bridgewater State Hospital for remainder of his life.
