Clotilde (Arruda) Tremblay Missing 1988
Clotilde (Arruda) Tremblay (33) vanished without a trace in 1988. Clotilde “Claudette” was born in St. Miguel in the Azores. After coming to the United States, she settled in Fall River where her family members also resided. In 1980, she married Robert R. Tremblay, and they later had a daughter, Sheri.
At the time of her disappearance, she was living with her husband and then 8-year-old Sheri at 128 Pearce Street in Fall River. Robert claimed she had voluntarily left him for another unknown man. Robert never reported Clotilde missing to the Fall River Police.
Due to the circumstances surrounding Clotilde's disappearance, her family believe something happened to her. Fall River Police and investigators with the District Attorney's office have stated their efforts to find her have been unsuccessful and her disappearance is considered suspicious. Investigators believe she is no longer alive. It wasn't until 2023, 35 years later, that Clotilde's case was made public by the District Attorney's Office.
According to the District Attorney's Office, her husband, Robert Tremblay, has claimed that Clotilde left him in 1988 for another man.
Despite his claim, there has been no trace of Clotilde since that time. Family members reject the idea that Clotilde voluntarily ran off with another man. Her family described Clotilde as being extremely close to her daughter, Sheri and the suggestion that she voluntarily disappeared leaving Sheri behind is not possible.
A neighbor also expressed disbelief with the husband’s explanation. The neighbor described Clotilde as a loving mother who was inseparable from her daughter. For this reason and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, both Clotilde’s family members and her neighbor believe that something happened to Clotilde at that time. Investigators didn't find Robert's explanation credible and has been named a person of interest.
Robert Tremblay
Robert Tremblay is the younger brother of Norma V. Tremblay III. On October 14, 1969 Norman V. Tremblay III (17) was found handcuffed and hanging from a tree in the yard of the family home.
Norman along with two (2) other men, who also died of suspicious nature, were participants in a crime ring, ran by Fall River Police Sergeant Paul Gonsalves. The men fenced their stolen goods with Russell Goldstein, who was later murdered on December 20, 1969. Goldstein's murder is also unsolved.
