Charles M. Allen Jr. Missing October 11 2007
Charles M. Allen Jr. (22), who legally changed his name to Neo Babson Maximus in August 2007, was a resident of Ocean Street in New Bedford, and was a senior with a psychology major at UMass-Dartmouth. On October 12 2007 Charles went missing after a series of unusual events.
On October 11, 2007 Charles had his last contact with his sister. She called Charles to inquire why he had deleted his Facebook account. According to her, Charles told her that he didn’t delete the account and that he had people after him. During the same conversation Charles mentioned he had plans that evening to attend an on-campus party in Hickory Dorm (demolished in 2023). He never arrived at the party.
He disconnected with her and called his parents and left several weird voice-mail messages, the background noise sounded like he was running through the woods. Charles never attended the party it appears he went missing right after his sister’s phone call. During the call with his parents he mentioned living in Texas or Florida. Charles also mentioned to look under the Periodic Table of Elements and you will find the answer. It's important to note, Charles was diagnosed as having bi-polar disorder and stopped taking his prescribed medications during the summer of 2007.
His vehicle, a 1999 Ford Expedition was discovered parked at UMass-Dartmouth. Charles had credit cards and a cell phone with him when he vanished, those items have never been located and no activity has shown up on his bank account or cell phone records. In examination of his computer found it had been wiped clean, however search history indicated he had viewed the University of Texas website just before he disappeared, but authorities can find no evidence that he traveled to Texas or to Florida. This lends to some credibility to his paranoia that he felt someone was after him.
On October 12 2007 in the early morning hours, two (2) witnesses saw Charlie walking down the street. One witness saw him on Russells Mills Road walking towards Chase Road, another witness saw him on Chase Road walking towards College Lane.
On October 13, 2007 At 3:00 AM a confused intruder, later identified as Charles, attempted to break into a home on College Lane, located off Chase Road. When confronted by a resident, he asked if Mason lived there, she stated no, he apologized, and fled into the woods towards Woodbury Lane. Mason was confirmed a friend of Charles and resides 30 minutes away from this location. The female reported Charles as being shirtless and shoeless. Dartmouth Police and several other departments launched an intensive three-day search effort using dogs, ATVs and helicopters. Charles was last seen wearing dark sweat pants with a red stripe, sneakers and carrying a white long-sleeve shirt. He is white, stands about 5'11" to 6' tall and has a slim build, short light brown hair and brown eyes.
On October 14 2007 approx.11AM Dartmouth Police were called to a home on Slocum Road, between Allen & Sharp Streets, to meet with a homeowner who located a backpack in his backyard hidden under bushes. The contents contained items belonging to Charles. The area was searched by a Dartmouth Police K-9, nothing new was discovered and Charlie was still missing.
On October 18 2007, a pair of shoes belonging to Charles was discovered on Chase Road not far from the house on College Lane, again the area is searched by K-9's. Nothing else was discovered, and Charles is still missing. The searching continued by law enforcement. On October 27, 2007 Dartmouth Police suspends due to lack of evidence. Dartmouth Police Case # 07-2410-OF remains open and unsolved.
It's claimed shortly after Charles disappeared, a witness told police he saw a man fitting Charles's description talking to or approaching a truck driver on Route 6 across from Wal-Mart in Dartmouth. The truck was an auto carrier, but the carrier was empty, as if it had delivered all of its vehicles. An investigation was conducted with auto dealers in the area, no leads were developed.
On June 11, 2022 Charlie's mother, Ann passed away from colon cancer at age 59.

Davis C Faunce Missing December 3 1946
Davis C. Faunce (72) was last seen by an attendant at the Dartmouth Infirmary on Monday December 2, 1946. On December 3, 1946 at 3AM it was determined that Faunce had gone missing. At the time of his disappearance, Faunce was suffering from a form of Dementia.
The Dartmouth Infirmary, later became known as the Kirby Home For The Aged, was located on the east side of Slocum Road one building south of the Dartmouth High School (current Dartmouth Town Hall)

The scent-trail led thru the wooded area to Pauline Street and Brownell Ave in New Bedford, however the scent was lost. Dartmouth Police Chief Brownell stated he had little hope of finding Faunce alive and suspended the search.
On December 6, 1946 a witness came forward reporting seeing an elderly male with a small black bag similar to one owned by Faunce walking on North Hixville Road about two (2) days prior.
